Zambian Premier League (ZPL) Unveils 2024/2025 League Fixtures and Introduces Two New Cups

The anticipation for the upcoming football season in Zambia just got more intense as the Zambian Premier League (ZPL) revealed the fixtures for the 2024/2025 MTN Super League and the Women's Super-Division. Speaking at a media briefing held at Football House, ZPL CEO Joseph Chimpampwe shared the exciting details.

According to Chimpampwe, both the men's and women's leagues are set to kick off on August 17, promising fans an electrifying start to the season. Additionally, the highly anticipated Charity Shield, sponsored by Zambian Breweries, is scheduled to take place on August 10 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. This year marks a historic moment as the women's teams will participate in the Charity Shield alongside their male counterparts.

Chimpampwe also unveiled plans for sponsorship for the Women's Super Division starting from the next season, along with the introduction of the National League for both men and women, with sponsors to be announced once negotiations are finalized.

In a move to further enhance the excitement of the league, Chimpampwe announced the introduction of two new cup competitions: the Champion Champions Cup and the ZPL Challenge Cup. Among these, the ZPL Challenge Cup promises to be the most lucrative, open to teams from the MTN Super League, National Division One, the Women's Super Division, and National Division One, demonstrating the league's commitment to meeting the expectations of its members.

As the fixtures were released, fans were treated to an array of thrilling matchups in both the MTN Super League and the Women's Super Division. Week One of the MTN Super League will witness captivating clashes such as Forest Rangers vs. AtletiCo Lusaka, Green Eagles vs. Kabwe Warriors, and defending champions Red Arrows facing Green Buffaloes in a highly anticipated military derby.

Meanwhile, in the Women's Super Division, exciting encounters include Choma Warriors Academy vs. Red Arrows, Green Buffaloes Women vs. Green Eagles, and Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles hosting ZISD.
