12.12.2024 | Football DNA

Zambia’s journey on the international women’s football stage continues as the draws for the FIFA U20 and U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers were recently revealed, setting the stage for thrilling encounters ahead.

U20 Women’s World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

Reigning COSAFA champions Zambia are set to face Burundi in the second round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The matches will take place on 19 and 27 September 2025.

The winner of this encounter will progress to the third round, where they will face either Uganda or Namibia. The qualification campaign consists of four rounds, with the ultimate goal being a spot at the prestigious FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026.

In the final round, the victor of the third-round clash will meet the winner of a series featuring Togo vs Tunisia and Ghana vs Eswatini/South Africa to secure one of the coveted places in the global tournament.

U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 Qualifiers

Meanwhile, the road to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 has also been mapped out. Zambia, fresh from their participation in this year’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, will join the qualifiers in the second round.

The Copper Princesses will take on the winner of the first-round clash between Eswatini and Tanzania. Should they succeed, they will face a third-round showdown against the winners of the (Congo vs. Benin) x (DR Congo vs. Niger) fixtures, with a spot in Morocco 2025 on the line.

This edition of the U17 Women’s World Cup will be historic, as it marks the first time the tournament will be hosted on African soil and only the second time in an Arab country, following Jordan’s hosting in 2016.

A Bright Future for Zambian Women’s Football

Zambia’s women’s teams continue to make strides on the international stage, building on their recent successes in regional and global tournaments. With talent and determination driving their campaigns, the Copper Queens are set to represent the nation with pride as they compete for a place on the world stage.

Football fans across the country will be eagerly following their progress, rallying behind the teams as they aim to make history in both the U20 and U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
