FAZ EMPOWERS WOMEN SUPER LEAGUE CLUBS WITH KIT AND FOOTBALLS

07.09.2023 | Football in my DNA

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has handed over kit and footballs to the 18 Women Super League teams and four that were relegated last season.

FAZ president Andrew Kamanga says the consignment was given to Football House after lobbying FIFA as part of the long journey to fulfil club licensing requirements.

“Our gathering today is to offer a token to all our women Super League Teams through support that we requested from FIFA. In line with our 10-year strategic plan that places the women’s game among our top priority areas, we requested for support from FIFA for kit and footballs which we are handing over today,” says Kamanga.

“Beyond this handover, there is a lot more happening in the women’s game as some of you may already know. Clubs that contributed players to the FIFA World Cup will receive money from the world soccer governing body. That is in addition to the THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS that FIFA will give each player who was in the final 23-member squad at the World Cup.”

As part of the build up to receiving the support from FIFA, FAZ hosted a club licensing workshop for all women clubs in the country.

The workshop was conducted by a FIFA instructor upon which recommendations were made. FIFA’s support is part of helping Zambian clubs meet club licensing requirements.

All the 18 Super League teams will receive a set of jerseys, 10 footballs and bibs. Additionally, the four relegated teams will also be part of the beneficiaries taking the number to 22.
