FAZ Drives Big into 2025: Unveils State-of-the-Art Bus for National Teams
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has kicked off 2025 in style by unveiling a brand-new, state-of-the-art bus designed to revolutionize transportation for Zambia’s national teams. The bus, purchased for $428,187.32 (approximately K11,991,332) under FIFA’s Forward Development Programme, is a landmark investment aimed at addressing logistical challenges for both local and international engagements.
A Symbol of Progress
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony at Football House, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga expressed pride in the association’s continued progress.“There could have been no better way to drive into 2025 than the way we are moving in the brand-new year. This project speaks to real football development as its impact is instant,” Kamanga said.
He highlighted the persistent transportation challenges the teams have faced and emphasized that the new bus would elevate the teams' operations and public image. Kamanga also praised FIFA's ongoing support for Zambian football, citing the $10 million Technical Centre project launched in 2024 as another example of FIFA's commitment.
FIFA Applauds FAZ’s Efforts
FIFA Representative David Fani commended FAZ for its strategic use of FIFA’s resources, calling the bus acquisition a milestone in Zambian football development.“By purchasing this bus, FAZ took an important step to address some of the challenges it faces,” Fani said. He further applauded FAZ for the progress Zambian teams have made on both continental and international platforms, noting Zambia’s dominance in COSAFA and qualification for numerous tournaments.
Fani reiterated that while FIFA Forward funds may be limited, FAZ’s prudent investments demonstrate how such resources can make a meaningful difference.
Broader Support for Football Development
National Sports Council CEO Sombwa Musunsa also congratulated FAZ on securing the bus and acknowledged FIFA’s role in supporting Zambia’s football growth.“Let me congratulate FAZ on your broader vision for football development. I pledge the council’s continued support and wish you and the teams success in your future endeavors,” Musunsa said.
